Hands

Just how high in feet and inches or centimetres is the term used HANDS which is used to measure horses ? One Hand is made up of four fingers. Four fingers measured are approximately 4 inches, therefore a horse that is 15.1 hands high is 15.1 x 4 inches = 64 inches = 5ft 4in =163cm

Thoroughbred

A thoroughbred is a British breed, descended from Arab horses with some English blood, they tend to be highly strung, but they are the fastest and the bravest in the world.

Schoolmaster

A Schoolmaster is a horse that has been so well schooled by a good rider that it can teach a new rider what to do and will forgive them if they makes mistakes.

StandardBred

A Standardbred is a trotting horse that may have raced in harness. The name means that it can cover a set distance (trotting or pacing) in a set time, they originated in the U.S.A. They come from a number of breeds including the Thoroughbred and records are still being broken.

Trekhorse

A trek horse can be of any breed, but they tend to be horses that are "bombproof" and are frequently warm bloods or Standardbreds. They will accept a number of different riders and always behave themselves.
